Blaugust 2023 Prompt - Earliest Memory of Core Fandoms
From the Blaugust prompt list, What is your earliest memory related to one of your core fandoms?.
Video games! It should be no secret that I like playing video games. If I was to name my core fandom, it would be playing video games. I love them. I'm pretty sure I played some games before this, but one of my earliest memories of really playing, was when my family was borrowing a PlayStation 1, and I was able to play a little of Sypro the Dragon. It was a lot of fun, even though I don't think I got very far or did well. But that memory stuck with me. After that, some of my favorite games for a while were on the Game Boy Advance. And then later, I played a lot of MMOs. Honestly, I don't think of it as a fandom, rather I enjoy playing games like Dark Souls and Final Fantasy 14.
For pop culture fandoms, my father got me into Star Wars early. We watched the original trilogy together every few months. Since my childhood, I've watched Star Wars less often, but I have been keeping up with the Disney shows. Star Wars is a series I spent a lot of time with and have a ton of fond memories of. Between the movies and video games, it was time with my dad which is probably why I like it so much.
I am in general a big fan of Sci-fi and Fantasy, whether it is movies, TV shows, books, or video games. Something about going to other worlds really draws me in. The creative world building really draws me in and inspires me.
